Plisse outfits

Don’t like ironing?

Me too!

I love the idea of not needing to iron my clothes, especially when having to travel and not always sure if an iron will be provided for. Plisse fabrics are a great alternative and easy to pack.

I made two outfits from different fabrics. One dress from Cotton and a co-op (skirt and top) from polyester. They are made in the same shape but divided for the co-op. No patterns needed, but just measurements. This is called freehand pattern cutting with only measurements needed for your bust, waist, hip, and length.

Choose the desired length for the dress taken from the side neck point to hem. I choose just below my knee. For the width, I choose the widest part of my body (hip) and added 2 cm extra for seam allowance. Due to the nature of the fabric, this will be slightly bigger. All of this is done on flat measurements, so if your hip is 100 cm then the design will be 50 cm.

For the Co-op outfit: I used the same measurements for the dress, but divided the panel into a top and skirt (incl. seam allowance). You end up with 2 large squares, one is a skirt and the shorter part the top. The skirt waist is the same measurements as the bust but will be gauged into an elastic waistband channel to be adjusted to your waist measurements.
