What to do with a big waist?

Do you suffer from pants that don’t fit around your waist?

This is a common issue for curvy shapes, where your waist is naturally smaller than your hips. Lucky you :)  You either go for stretchy fabrics that are tighter around the waist or put a belt around your waist.

What I have done here is opened up a small opening in the waistband from the inside, to insert elastic in the back waist. I already measured how much I need to reduce the waist and adjusted the elastic length to gain the desired measurement on the waist.

Then I feed through the elastic in the waistband and stitch it on the side seam to keep it in place. Once I check that I am happy with the fit, then I close up the seam opening.

Tip: Use a safety pin to attach elastic and pull it through the waistband. This makes it easier to feed it through.
