How to - Fix snags / pulled threads in clothing?
Have you ever caught your clothes and ended up with snags / pulled threads. Not great at all, but don't despair.
Snags can be small or large and these methods are sure to fix all, in order to revive garment back into your wardrobe.
Tools needed:
Sewing needle
Thread
Pins
Thread scissors
Method 1: Pin / needle
This method works best if the yarn is thicker and holes are easier to see, as you see in knitted garments.
First, pull the fabric slightly, but not too hard, just enough in order for this to push back the loose thread in place.
All you need to use is a pin that pushes the snag back into the original hole. You can use the back of a larger needle to push through the back of the fabric.
The most important thing is not to cut off the thread, but leave it in to prevent the yarn from unraveling and creating a hole.
Method 2: Needle with thread
This method is ideal for finer fabrics, to prevent it from showing any holes and damaging the weave of the fabric.
Start by threading your needle in a visible colour thread.
Put the needle in the place of the snag.
Loop over the coloured thread around the snag and pull this through the fabric.
Slightly pull the fabric and don't cut off the loose thread that is now on the wrong side of the fabric.
Tip:
There is a special tool called a snag nab-it tool that you can use to pull through the fabric to get rid of your loose threads. However, I like to use everyday household items that you would normally have in your house, without adding extra cost and have therefore used my hair crochet needle.
